Port Haven was first founded in 1427 by Commodore Bleu Froque, when he seceded from Mirning with a full ship's complement of Her Majesty's marines.
Whilst the local population did not take to the newcomers, and promptly executed them, the remains of the ship lay undisturbed in the ruins of the port for some hundred years, and caused a town to naturally form around it.
When King Henry LIV learned of this, he dispatched some seasoned mariners to execute the town, and remove any trace of the previous traitors from the face of the Earth. However, two of the five ships dispatched were lost to a series of whirlpools that were found in the entry to the port.
After witnessing the violent destruction of their comrades, the mariners attempted to return to the village. However, the king hearing that they had failed, issued bounties for their deaths. Facing no alternative, the mariners attempted to flee back to Port Haven.
They were welcomed by the townsfolk for the most part. Whilst some died of natural causes, and others less natural, the large majority of mariners added to the town, and lent their various expertise and knowledge to grow the port city.
Eventually, the bounties were rescinded, as the King sought to do trade with the small town, particularly of their large crop of cocoa plants.
Unfortunately, shortly after the trade deal was signed, a hurricane struck the island and the village was completely destroyed. So far as my studies have led me, I have not managed to find a single survivor of that incident.
